Closed hydrostatic slideways with constant pressure are utilized in machine tools for movements of the moving units. They are especially recommended for movements of low velocity (no stick-slip effect). The test stand of the slideways designed and manufactured in the Department was optimized regarding rigidity and then prepared to static and dynamic research experiments. The possibility of regulation of the outlet gaps dimension as well as the chamber pressures was taken into account in the project. With long-term experience of the researchers in the Department several constructions of machine tools with hydrostatic slideways have been designed. One of them is the drive of table and wheelhead of the cylindrical grinder SWE-25.
